A classic variety of Ancistrus that combines great looks with function. These hardy catfish display earthy, mottled brown tones that blend beautifully into natural aquascapes, making them a great addition to any freshwater aquarium.

Bristlenose Plecos are one of the most popular and beginner-friendly catfish available. Known for their peaceful, easygoing nature and compatibility with most community fish, they thrive in a wide range of tank setups. They're an excellent choice for both planted aquariums and tropical community tanks.

One of their best features? They’re natural algae eaters. Bristlenose Plecos are fantastic at keeping your tank’s glass, décor, and driftwood clean from algae buildup—helping maintain a healthy-looking aquarium while reducing the need for scrubbing or chemicals.

They grow to around 10–12 cm (4–5 inches), making them ideal for medium-sized tanks (minimum 80L recommended). They enjoy hiding spots, caves, and driftwood, which helps with digestion and mimics their natural habitat.

Though mostly nocturnal, they’re often active during the day—especially at feeding time. Their diet includes algae wafers, blanched vegetables (like zucchini and cucumber), and occasional protein-based foods such as shrimp pellets or bloodworms.

Males grow distinctive facial bristles as they mature, while females have a smoother look. Bristlenose Plecos are also one of the easiest plecos to breed at home with the right conditions.
